• Write about things that interests you, if possible. I you have an assignment in history around the 1700-century, dig yourself deep into a subject you want to know more about. If you like reading about war, read about which countries fought which. If you like fashion, read about the clothes and hats. If you like poetry, read up on writers and poets from the time. Find things that interests you and write about them the way you like.
  
  
• Keep your teaches surprised. Write an essay with a blue background and light pink text. Write an essay on dark green background and beige text. Write an essay a purple background. Write an essay with another font than usual. Make the visual presentation a part of the whole thing and make it out of the ordinary. If you do it well, the thing will be remembered and so will you.
  
  
• Change the way you look at assignments. If you are going to write about the second world war, try do it in a way that haven’t been done. Write a novel out of Hitler’s perspective. Write a letter from a civilian german. Write a poem dripping in facts. Write the whole thing in rhyme. If you are allowed to be free or there isn’t anything said about the way the thing is supposed to look, find a way you like to write.
  
  
• Write fanfiction. Yes. Do. In short stories, one shots. Write m-rated parts. You may not want to include them when you actually turn it in but you should anyway write them. If you do not care for the teacher to know you have written ff, just change the names. Change small things that makes it impossible to relate to the actual thing you were writing about.
  
  
• Illustrate. When having to do a timeline, don’t just put everything in the right order, make something out of it. Make bubbles coming out of a soap bubble wand and let the text fill the insides, make a solar system and write on the planets surfaces, make a road and every car have a piece of information written on them.
  
  
• If you have an original story weave them into essays. When supposed to write about gay-rights through the ages, make the persons you have talk about it, make them show each other your sources and let them talk about it. Make one of them be more read into the facts and the other one ask questions.
  
  
• Talk bullshit. If you absolutely have no interest in what you are going to take a side on, choose a side you would not hate to be connected to and just throw out arguments. You don’t have to agree with the fully, you just have to not disagree. Look from different angles and force opinions out of yourself. Read what others have thought and incorporate them.
  
  
• Talk shit about assignments and teachers with friends, irl or on internet. Just do it. It makes you clear your head and it makes you feel better. You shouldn’t go around being angry all the time and when you have said you hate that fucking thing, it will be easier to do it. If teachers are doing a legitimate bad job though, talk to another teacher about it, your guidance counselor or your principal or whoever can help you. You have a responsibility but they do too.
  
  
• Last but not least, put stuff in in time. Don’t ever be late. If you’re late once, it will be twice and then you are behind on everything and it will just make things worse. Even if you feel like the thing you have is crap and you don’t really think it’s finished and you haven’t done it all, put it in. It’s always better to have been on time than to have not turned anything at all in. You can always keep writing and turning your edited work in.
